It became clear last week that Ferrari CEO Marchionne doesn't think Tesla has created a true supercar (even though Tesla did unveil a replacement Roadster last November that, when built, are going to be the fastest thing on the road, with a predicted 0-60 time of 1.9 seconds and styling that's anything but stodgy).

He reiterated his "Ferrari are going to be first" comment, within the process taking an attempt at the handling characteristic of electrical vehicles. they are not great. The P100D is stunning during a line, but that creates it more of an electrical muscle car than a flashy European go-around-corners demon, like, say, a Ferrari 458 Italia.


Marchionne took a shot:

Marchionne features a point. We've driven the Model S in Ludicrous Mode, and while it's certainly fast, we've also driven the Ferrari 488, and there is no reasonable comparison. you'll take a stock 488, rig it up for racing, and run it within the 24 Hours of Le Mans. you'll take a Model S to the drag strip.

except, for now, Ferrari thinks they need some work to try to — and is convinced that its electric supercars, should they ever exist, will still be not just Ferrari-good, but Ferrari-better.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+: 304 mph

In August 2019, Bugatti topped the formerly reigning Hennessey Venom F5. Not only that, but the Chiron Super Sport 300+ also became the primary car to interrupt 300 miles per hour on the track. the ultimate record was 304.773 mph with racecar driver Andy Wallace on Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany. If that’s hard to grasp, that’s because it's. Imagine having the ability to hide 450 feet during a single second.

Hennessey Venom F5: 301 mph (Claimed)

Hennessey Performance Engineering previously owned the highest spot of this list with its Venom F5. The successor to the record-setting Venom GT, the F5 features a theoretical and claimed top speed of 301 mph, besting subsequent fastest car by a solid margin.

The Venom F5 utilizes a carbon fiber chassis and is powered by a 7.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 good for 1,600 horsepower. While Hennessey has yet to legitimize its claims, the F5 will reportedly dash from 0 to 249 mph and back to 0 in but 30 seconds. That’s about how long it takes a light sports car just to urge from 0 to 100 mph.

SSC Tuatara: 300+ mph (Claimed)



It’s been years since we heard from SSC when the American specialty vehicle manufacturer announced a successor to its Ultimate Aero hypercar. At the time, SSC claimed the upcoming Tuatara would hit 265 mph, but when the corporate revealed its production-intent model at this year’s Concours d’Elegance, the figure in question had risen to 300 mph.

Derived from a Nelson Racing Engines’ twin-turbocharged V-8, the Tuatara’s 5.9-liter flat-plane crank engine is capable of 1,750 horsepower when it runs E85 fuel.

Koenigsegg Agera RS: 278 mph

If you’re only curious about proven claims, then the world’s fastest cars list officially starts here with the Koenigsegg Agera RS. While Hennessey’s Venom F5 claims it can do over 300 mph, Koenigsegg has actually demonstrated it's Agera RS can put down a mean top speed of 278 mph. How did the Swedish automaker earn its stripes?

On November 4, 2017, the Nevada Department of Transportation closed an 11-mile stretch of road just outside Las Vegas.  the typical pace (including one run at 285 mph) was recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Hennessey Venom GT: 270 mph

When Koenigsegg set a replacement official top speed record, Hennessey forfeited the title. The Hennessey Venom GT came out of nowhere to topple the mighty Bugatti Veyron. In 2014, Hennessey revealed a Lotus-based Frankenstein supercar with a 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and 1,244 horsepower.

Koenigsegg Jesko: 300+ (Claimed)

Let's get real. There are some ways to live who is that the king of automobiles, but top speed is unquestionably the one everyone cares most about. These ten exotic supercars are quite just fun though: they're the fastest production cars on planet earth. One-off custom jobs didn't make the cut.

1. HENNESSEY VENOM F5: 301 MPH


Boasting a claimed top speed of 301 mph, the Venom F5 smashes the previous top speed figure by quite a faculty zone regulation. 3. HENNESSEY VENOM GT: 270MPH


Hennessey recorded a 270.4-mph run at the Kennedy Space Center in 2014, but only in one direction. To be considered legitimate, record attempts usually require a run in each direction, and a mean is taken to account for wind conditions.

There’s also some debate about whether the Hennessey Venom qualifies as a production car thanks to its hand-built nature. Hennessey’s monster wasn’t recognized because of the world’s fastest car by the Guinness Book of World Records.

4. BUGATTI CHIRON: 261 MPH


No list is complete without a supercar from the legendary Bugatti. The Veyron was a monumental feat of engineering, a supercar whose performance was so marvelous, Top Gear presenter James May compared it to the car equivalent of the Concorde.

The Chiron may be a king among supercars, which is fitting, as kings are going to be among the few to get one — only 500 were released for the primary generation, and that they cost a staggering $2.6 million each.

5. BUGATTI VEYRON SUPERSPORT: 268 MPH


When Volkswagen purchased the Bugatti brand, it had one goal: build the fastest production car within the world. the first Veyron achieved that goal, and with a tag of $1.7 million and a quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing 1,000 hp.

The Veyron was soon dethroned by the SSC Ultimate Aero, so Bugatti came back with the Veyron Super Sport. This beat radiates an astonishing 1200 HP, and various aerodynamic changes meant to assist gain a couple of extra miles per hour.

With a top speed of 268 mph recorded at Volkswagen’s test track, the Veyron Super Sport was once recognized because of the world’s second-fastest production car by the Guinness Book of World Records.

6. SCC ULTIMATE AERO: 256 MPH


Shelby SuperCars (SSC) has nothing to try to to with Carroll Shelby of Cobra fame, except for a flash its Ultimate Aero was the fastest production car within the world. It reached a top speed of 256 mph back in 2007, beating the non-Super Sport version of the Veyron.

Helping it achieve that warm speed was a 6.3-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 1,287 hp. There are not any electronic driver aids to assist control that power either, creating a purer driving experience for those with talent.

7. TESLA ROADSTER: 250MPH (UNVERIFIED)
